"designed and developed by experts in the industry, for the industry"
BTS recognizes the many unique issues that owners, managers and employees in the restaurant industry must deal with on a day to day basis. With this in mind BTS has developed BPOS restaurant point of sale software with functionality specifically geared towards the restaurant industry and its specific needs.
Customized Kitchen Chits
Making sure that the kitchen receives the order in the correct format is important to maximize efficiency. BPOS recognizes and addresses this need by having a fully customizable ticket section for kitchen chits. BPOS restaurant point of sale software allows the user to design their kitchen chits line by line. The user selects from dozens of preprogrammed data fields to format a kitchen chit that will be effective and efficient for their staff.

Modifiers and Modifier Groups
There are many different ways restaurants deal with modifiers, side orders and preps. BPOS restaurant point of sale software has been designed to deal with a wide variety of these issues. Some of the customizations that are available include:
- Modifier groups- modifier groups are used to group together modifiers and preps that may be related to one or more menu items. Within modifier groups there are many parameters that may be established such as price, the minimum and maximum number allowed, if a minimum is mandatory, how many are free, etc. Some examples:
- b. Menu items- each menu item may be assigned one or more modifier groups. In addition they may be assigned in any order desired in order to help control the work flow. A work flow assists the wait staff in ensuring each order is processed accurately by ensuring the customer requests are properly executed at the time of order. A work flow "forces" the sever to use a pre-determined flow if desired.
Opening Tickets
There are several different ways that a server may need/want to open a ticket and BPOS restaurant point of sale software can accommodate all of them including:
- By Ticket Number- an order may simply be opened in which case a unique ticket number will be assigned by terminal. This may be used in the case of fast food, quick service or when a customer is purchasing one item and paying cash.
- Open Ticket- a server may open a ticket at anytime if allowed to by security restrictions. In this case a keyboard will automatically pop up and the server may assign any name to the ticket they would like to in accordance with policy.
- By Table- a server may open a ticket by simply touching on the table within the table service module. When the server touches the table the ticket is automatically attached to that table. The server may then add the number of people at the table and enter the order by person at that specific table.
- By ID/Credit Card- if desired an option may be activated to allow servers to open tickets by swiping a Drivers License or Credit Card. The name on the ID/Credit Card will be automatically assigned to the ticket when it is opened. A server may use this option to open a ticket and pre-authorize a credit card at the same time.
Printer Groups
Different menu items need to print to different locations within the kitchen and there must be a backup system in case a printer goes down. BPOS restaurant point of sale software handles this with the use of printer groups. Each item is assigned a printer group consisting of one printer for the kitchen chit and one printer for the receipt. In addition, each item can have up to two backup printer groups that automatically activate if the other printer is off line. The use of printer groups ensures that all kitchen chits and receipts not only print to the correct location, but that procedures are automatically in place in case a printer fails.
Split Items and Tickets
One of the most frustrating things a staff member may be required to do is split and item or ticket after and order has been placed. BPOS restaurant point of sale software takes this into account and provides an easy way for staff members to accomplish this task. Items may be split by a dollar amount or percentage between either different customers on the same ticket, or between different tickets. Tickets may be split by percentage, dollar or by individual items being moved onto a new ticket so that customers can pay for individual bills. In reverse, items or tickets may be merged in order to consolidate a bill for a customer.
Transfer Tickets
The ability to transfer tickets easily and fast is extremely important for mangers and staff as when they go onto break, adjust the server layout or as servers check out. BPOS restaurant point of sale software allows for fast and easy ticket transfer through the use of a single button. Based on the staff member’s security level either their open tickets or all tickets will appear ready for transfer in one window. At the same time a list of all employees eligible to receive tickets will appear in a separate window. The staff member simply selects the ticket(s) to transfer and the employee to transfer them to. The transfer is confirmed and the process is complete. No more hassles when attempting to transfer tickets.
Table Service
For restaurants with table service the ability to seat tables, track tables and open tickets by table is of utmost importance. BPOS restaurant point of sale software provides a comprehensive table service module that includes:
- Floor Plan- just like POS screens all floor plan screens are fully customizable. Floor screens can be developed to show all tables, chairs, bars, walls, etc within a given area of the facility. When developing the floor screens they are fully customizable in regards to basic properties such as size, shape and color.
- Table tracking- BPOS restaurant point of sale software provides for table tracking through customized color coding. Table and chairs on the floor screen will appear in different colors depending if they are reserved, ready, seated, order placed, ticket closed or dirty. With this functionality a hostess can know the status of all tables on the floor without ever leaving the hostess’ stand.
- Ticket opening- tickets are automatically opened by table number when using the floor screen. The server simply touches the table and a ticket is opened and attached to that table. This will automatically change the status of the table from seated to order placed.
- Coming Soon- BPOS restaurant point of sale software is currently being developed to provide full reservation capabilities including both telephone and on-line reservations. The functionality will be directly integrated with the table service module and will provide an integrated solution for restaurants that will eliminate the need for a separate reservations system.
